A Newtown student is calling on young people in Montgomeryshire to join a young people’s strike over climate change on Friday.
Jasmine Jones, who lives in Newtown and attends Shrewsbury Sixth Form College, is among hundreds expected at the strike in Shrewsbury.
“Young people, their friends and families are encouraged to join the event and if they wish, bring along home-made banners and placards,” said Jasmine.
Such strikes have taken place throughout the UK and around the world. They have proved controversial among many who do not believe pupils should be leaving their classrooms in school and college time.
However, many others have praised the young people for taking such action.
Towns and cities throughout the world will take part in the strike on Friday.
The Shrewsbury #YouthStrike4Climate Global Strike will take place at The Quarry Park between 9am and 2pm.
