A choir from the United States is returning to Tregynon this month to perform a concert.

Northern Harmony will be returning to St. Cynon’s Church in Tregynon Tuesday 12 March at 7.30pm.

The talented young people, under the direction of Larry Gordon, hail from Vermont in the USA, and are currently on tour in Britain, Spain and France.

“The choir specialise in varied world ethnic singing styles, from the hearty and ultra bright Bulgarian ‘hard voice’ to the equally powerful, but darker and more sonorous Georgian timbre, from the rich, mellifluous South African style or the wild and unrestrained American shape-note sound to a delicate, pure, early music timbre,” said Suzanne Davies.

“Those who have heard the group before will definitely not want to miss this opportunity to hear them again in Mid Wales,” added Suzanne.

Tickets are £10 (concession for children £6) and can be booked by calling 01686 628803 or by e mail – suzanne_edwards@btinternet.com

At the concert, St. Cynon’s Church will be launching a music series, which will run from May until October this year, with a varied programme of events including choirs, instrumentalists and a lecture by historian and researcher Dr Rhian Davies.

Membership of the series, with details of the events, will be available from Suzanne Edwards.
