Newtown-based fashion and furnishing empire Laura Ashley could be acquired by a private investment company.
The Flacks Group has said it is in preliminary stages of "evaluating" a takeover of the company which has its mail order, warehouse, accounts and wallpaper and paint divisions in Newtown.
It is understood it values the company at £20 million.
The investment company is based in Florida, USA.
Laura Ashley was established in Mid Wales by Laura and Bernard Ashley. Its worldwide headquarters was located at Carno until it moved it to London, but has maintained parts of the company in Newtown.
It once made clothing and furnishings throughout Mid Wales.
The company is currently owned by a Malaysian business.
