Town councillor loses seat for "non attendance" for six months

16/11/2018 @ 01:30

Three town council elections are to be held next month following the resignation of two councillors and the non-attendance of another.

It has emerged that town councillor Diane Williams, who represented the North Ward, lost her seat as a result of not turning up to a town council meeting for six months.

Cllr Mike Jones has resigned from his seat in the Central Ward, while Cllr Roy Norris resigned from his on the North Ward.

Nominations are open until 23 November for anyone wanting to put themselves forward for election.

Town Clerk, Ed Humphreys, confirmed the vacancies.

An election will be held on 20 December so long as enough people are nominated. Otherwise, a member could be co-opted on to the council without an election.

Nomination papers have to be delivered to County Hall, Llandrindod Wells by no later than 4pm on 23 November.
