Fire alert after clothes left on heater

Fire fighters were called to a property after clothes left to dry on an electric heater sparked a fire alert.

A fire engine was dispatched from Montgomery Station to a property in the town last night (Thursday) at around 8.47pm.

On returning to the station, they Tweeted: “(We were) mobilised to domestic alarms activating at a property in the town. This was due to occupant drying clothes on an electric heater, which had started burning the clothes. Occupant advised and please, people, don’t cover any heaters with items, that’s not their purpose!”
