A fundraising group is to bet set up at Newtown High School to help it raise extra income.

The school, which has campuses in Newtown and Presteigne, is to look at ways of gaining additional income and will hold two meetings for parents and others to give their views and ideas.

"The governing body of Newtown High School is setting up a fundraising group of interested parties to assist us in improving the income available to us as a school," said the school in a statement.

"This first meeting would be an exploratory meeting to discuss projects which would be followed up at a later date.

"We would love to get as many interested people as possible to attend the meetings including governors, members of the Friends of Newtown Campus and John Beddoes, parents and any other groups/individuals who want to help the school."

The first meeting will be held at the school's Newtown campus on Tuesday, 23 October at 6pm.

Another meeting will be held at the Presteigne campus on 25 October at 6.30pm.
