Newtown’s impressive start to the season has been recognised with the manager and a star player in the running for September awards.

Chris Hughes has masterminded Robins’ wins over Bala, Cardiff Met, Penybont and Llanelli while Neil Mitchell’s performances have caught the eye of the judges. They are both on shortlists with voting conducted online.

This weekend, though, their attention will turn to trying to secure more JD Welsh Premier points points at home to Barry Town.

Meanwhile, Caersws will try to continue their MMP Mid Wales League unbeaten start to the season when they head to in-form Berriew. Llanfair United welcome Llanidloes in another blockbuster.

The majority of Mid Wales and Amateur League clubs are involved in Cup fixtures this weekend.
