Two long range strikes in two first half minutes saw Newtown get back to winning ways in the Welsh Premier League.

A 2-1 win over Cardiff Met saw the Robins  and record their third home win on the bounce.

They made it hard for themselves though and fell behind early on as Sam Snaith glanced home a free kick after 13 minutes.

But Alex Fletcher’s long range effort squirmed through the goalkeepers legs, before Neil Mitchell rifled in a belter two minutes later.

Berriew pulled off the result of the season so far in the Mid Wales League today.

The Rhiewsiders crushed league leaders Radnor Valley 6-2 to end their 100 per cent record with goals from Richard Davies (3), Charlie Humphreys (2) and Joe Haycock.

Welshpool went down 3-1 at home to Aberaeron while both Guilsfield and Llanrhaeadr suffered home defeats in the Huws Gray Alliance League.
