Two men were tasered by police while trying to break into a Newtown business.

The men, described as travelling criminals by police, were caught attempting to break into the Freestyle Bikes unit on the St Giles Business Park in Pool Road.

Police from Newtown and Welshpool caught them while they were attempting to cut open a bar across one of the doors to steal motorbikes and equipment on Thursday night.

"Our store in Newtown had another attempted break-in Thursday evening and thanks to the amazing continued effort of the Heddlu Dyfed Powys Police, they caught them red-handed, tasered them and frog-marched them away," said a post by Freestyle Bikes.

The business was broken into nearly two years ago, with motorbikes worth thousands of pounds taken.

The men were arrested and taken to Newtown Police Station.
