Quality Engineer Apprentice

Control Techniques is part of the Industrial Automation business within the Nidec Group. We are a leading provider of sophisticated automation equipment, used in commercial and industrial applications. Our innovative products are used in the most demanding applications requiring performance, reliability and energy efficiency to enhance the productivity of our customers' machines and processes.

In this role you will learn the key functions of a world class Quality Assurance function. We envisage that this is a 4-year apprenticeship scheme with the right balance of education and personal development from work-based activities.
The successful candidate’s main responsibilities will include:

·         Developing a detailed understanding of how a Quality Assurance department works including the capability to undertake a full range of tasks as required.

·         Learning about manufacturing processes and developing an understanding of what good looks like from a quality, value and speed perspective.

·         Performing routine product reliability testing and publishing test results.

·         Expanding the scope of monthly reliability testing program to incorporate selected type testing.

·         Working towards a company sponsored relevant qualification which, depending on current level of education could include:

BTEC Level 2 Extended certificate in Engineering / CQI Practitioner Certificate in Quality Management / CQI Professional course ‘Leading strategic change and Improvement. This would involve day release to college or distance learning depending on the course.

  Qualifications, Experience and Profile:

·         Minimum of 5 GCSE’s grade C or above to include Mathematics and English

·         Engineering qualification an advantage

·         A positive attitude with a talent for learning

·         The ability to contribute to a happy working environment

·         Enthusiastic with a ‘can-do’ attitude

·         An effective communicator

·         Ability to interpret complex data to identify trends and root causes

·         Completes tasks paying attention to the smallest details

·         Good working knowledge of Microsoft office suite is an advantage
