An event promoting bone health and osteoporosis is to be held in Newtown next week to raise awareness to local residents.

The National Osteoporosis Society will hold the event on 6 July at Newtown Methodist Church between 2.30pm and 4pm.

The event will include a talk from Louise Fox, development manager of the NOE and Debbie Stone, an osteoporosis nurser specialist, also with the NOE.

"It's the first of this type of event to be held in this area for many years and naturally we are keen that as many people as possible get to find out about it," said local resident Andrea Marlow, who has helped arrange the event.

"Many people, particularly ladies, but also men, suffer from broken bones and are suffering from osteoporosis but it often goes undiagnosed. This event is just aimed at providing information about osteoporosis for anyone who is interested."

Refreshments will be provided.
