Police have revealed that a motorcyclist involved in an accident near Dolfor yesterday had made off from officers before losing control of his machine on a set of bends.

Dyfed Powys Police has this afternoon issued an appeal for motorists who were on the A483 near Newtown and saw the BMW motorcycle, registration HV64 CCK, to contact them on 101.

The motorcyclist suffered broken bones and a punctured lung.

There was no police pursuit at the time of the accident. A group of riders had been stopped but the one involved in the accident drove off.

"The collision happened on Upper Dolfor Road - between Newtown and Dolfor - shortly before 10.15am yesterday," said a police spokesperson.

"The BMW motorbike was travelling towards Newtown in a group of motorcycles. The rider made off from officers and lost control in a set of bends.

"Ambulance attended and the man driving was taken to hospital with broken bones and a collapsed lung."

The road was closed for several hours and the incident was cleared by 3.30pm.

Officers are investigating and appealing for witnesses who saw the motorbike before the collision. Anyone with information is urged to contact PC 716 Davies at Newtown Roads Policing Unit by calling 101.
