Police have confirmed a robbery took place at a Newtown petrol forecourt today, with a member of staff threatened.
The incident happened at around 2.15am at Snax24 on Pool Road.
Dyfed Powys Police received a report that two men threatened a staff member, before stealing cash, alcohol and cigarettes from the forecourt.
"The initial call was made to police at 2.14am from a driver who visited the garage. Officers were at the scene within seven minutes, by which time the men had made off," said a statement.
Temporary DI Gareth Grant said: “This was a very worrying incident for the staff member who was working at the time. The victim was understandably shaken and is being supported by officers.
“The incident involved two men – both were white, and both were wearing scarves to cover their mouths.
“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, who might have seen two men making off from the garage on foot, or anyone driving along Pool Road around this time.”
Anyone who can help with the investigation is asked to contact Newtown JIU by calling 101 and quoting reference number 17 of June 15.
