Since we reported mattresses, wardrobes and other rubbish being dumped on the canal path in Newtown,
Several residents have stated the charges imposed by Powys County Council to remove large items and furniture are too high, resulting in even more costs to the council trying to clear up the mess left by fly-tippers.
In one of the latest photos, a mattress and other rubbish have been spotted floating in the River Severn, stuck in branches.
"PCC charge a household I believe to collect their unwanted large items. It actually costs them a darn sort more to clear up the horrendous mess left scattered all over our beautiful county, and massive court money. More Earwax than Brains I think. Needs sorting. Easier and cheaper in the long run," said one reader via Facebook.
Rubbish has also been reported left strewn in housing estates in the town, as well as fields surrounding the town.
PCC has reported several fines recently on people who have been found to leave rubbish strewn in public areas, including a Newtown builder.
The council has not named those who have been fined.
