Powys County Council has confirmed that an investigation has been launched into its planning committee chairman, Cllr David Price, for possibly flouting caravan site licensing regulations and planning conditions.

Cllr Price who represents Llanafanfawr, has just been made High Sheriff of Powys and is actually up for planning chairman re-election today (Thursday), but faces allegations that he allows more people to pitch caravans on his land than is currently permitted under law.

The allegations were made in light of inspections carried out in the run up to the Royal Welsh Show on land owners in Builth Wells.

Cllr Price and his family do have camping pitches, but are allowed only five, and fellow land owners have told inspectors that he is flouting the law.

A spokesman for Powys County Council, said: “The council can confirm that it has received a complaint that is being investigated.

“We cannot comment further until the investigation is complete.”
