Some residents living near Newtown might still miss out on having their waste and recycling collected die to some lanes still being inaccessible.

Powys County Council said its staff was still coming up again road conditions following on from last week's heavy snow.

"Collections were missed due to the weather and are likely to be disrupted in some parts of the county for the remainder of this week with parts of the minor road network still affected by significant snow on the roads," said a statement.

"The council will try to collect from these areas as soon as road conditions improve with collections likely to be a day later than scheduled bearing in mind that waste and recycling crews are now operating new collection rounds on the new collection days."

Cllr Phyl Davies, Cabinet Member for Waste and Recycling, said: “We appreciate that the disruption is frustrating for residents but the council is doing all that it can to restore a normal collection service. It is hoped that normal service will be restored by next week.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank residents for their patience.”
