Ice and snow are still affecting roads and trains in the area following the snow from Storm Emma.

The A470 Caersws to Carno road remains officially closed, although our readers have posted videos of a single lane being accessible. Many B roads and unclassified roads around Newtown and throughout Montgomeryshire are still blocked as a result of drifting.

Arriva Trains Wales has cancelled services along the Cambrian Railway, although some services could be introduced later today.

Meanwhile, ice is now hampering efforts to clear the snow, although forecasters say temperatures will rise today.

Pavements in Newtown remain treacherous in places and residents are urged to check up on elderly and vulnerable neighbours and family as the cold temperatures continue.
