17/02/2018 @ 07:49

A local charity providing advocacy support for people with learning difficulties in Newtown and throughout Montgomeryshire, is seeking help.

A Voice for You, based at Plas Dolerw, are looking for new volunteer trustees.

Co-ordinator Angela Bennett, said: "At A Voice for You we are passionate about building a better future for people with a learning disability in the county.

"We have a small but enthusiastic team of volunteer trustees - together we work hard to achieve our goals. We have vacancies for trustees at present - it would be great to welcome some new faces onto the committee."

Sarah Parry-Roberts, A Voice for You's most recent trustee recruit is settling into her role very well and told us: "When I retired from Cedewain School in Newtown last September I really wanted to get more involved in the community rather than stay at home and do nothing,

"Having worked with youngsters with a learning disability for many years joining A Voice for You seemed a natural thing to do.

"It's very rewarding to be part of an organisation which really does make a difference in the lives of the people they support. I've enjoyed learning more about how the organisation ticks and especially about how they recruit and train volunteers to become advocates. I have also joined in and helped at the monthly social club."

If you would like to find out more about what being an A Voice for You trustee would entail please give them a call on 01686 629951 or send an e-mail to avoice.foryou@yahoo.com.
