First Minister to be scrutinised in Newtown

Wales’ First Minister, Carwyn Jones AM, will be in Newtown next week to be questioned by Assembly Members.

The meeting will also allow the public to ask the First Minister questions.

The National Assembly’s Committee for the Scrutiny of the First Minister will meet at Hafren in Newtown, on Friday, 16 February.
:The purpose of the session will be to explore the impact of Brexit on the food and drink industry in Wales. In particular, potential future international trade arrangements following withdrawal from the European Union and the implications for the industry,” said a National Assembly spokesperson.

Implications likely to be discussed include opportunities and risks around food standards; the promotion of Welsh food production and the ‘Welsh brand’; and  Implications for tourism and the hospitality industry.

The meeting starts at 11:30am.
