£7.25m project starts to help make railway line quieter

06/02/2018 @ 07:34

Work to help quieten trains running along the Cambrian Railway between Newtown and Aberystwyth are underway.

Network Rail has started work on 3.7 miles of track, creating a continuous welded rail as part of a £7.25m investment project.

The organisation said the new rail would result in a smoother ride for travellers as well as being much quieter when trains passed over it, reducing noise for those living near the railway line.

Work will be carried out at night to reduce any impact on services, although the line will be closed between 17 and 18 February and 10 to 11 March, with a bus services operating between Newtown and Aberystwyth.
