Two men are being sought by police who attacked a man in a Newtown pub beer garden, causing serious injuries.

The incident happened at the rear of The Black Boy public house in Broad Street on Tuesday night.

PC Grace Coburn of Newtown Police said the victim suffered “GBH level” injuries.

She has appealed for two women who were in the beer garden at the time of the incident and helped the victim afterwards, to contact her.

The incident happened at around 10.25pm.

PC Coburn said: “The incident took place in the pub’s beer garden and involved two offenders and one victim. The two offenders are described as one male who  is described as being large in build, tall, fair/brown coloured hair, wearing a white striped t-shirt, grey tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

“The other male is described as having an average to muscular build, tall, with fair/brown coloured hair, wearing a dark coloured t-shirt, a brown jacket, denim jeans and wearing shoes rather than trainers.”

PC Coburn added: “The victim as a result has received GBH level injuries and the identities of the two suspects involved are sought urgently. We would like to speak to the two females who at this stage have not been identified, however, were in the pub beer garden at the time of the incident and assisted the victim after being assaulted.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Newtown Police by telephoning 101.
