Newtown didn't escape the force of Storm Eleanor today as it passed through the region.

Minor damage has been caused to some houses with roof tiles and flying debris causing the most damage. Some minor roads and lanes have been affected by fallen trees, according to reports.

The main damage was seen at the Town Hall Grounds where one of the older trees toppled, ripping up part of the access road to the county council offices as pictured.

Police reported some disruption in the area last night, although they have not reported any major incidents.

A clean up was being undertaken along streets and roads in Newtown, as well as other rural outlaying communities.

Most residents complained about the noise of the storm during the night on social media.
