A Whist Drive is to be held in Caersws to help raise money for a farming charity.

Supporters of the Montgomeryshire branch of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) have organised a Whist Drive to be held at Caersws Village Hall on Wednesday, 10 January. Doors open 7.30pm and refreshments will be available. Competitors will also be offered the chance to win £15 for the highest score prize.

“The committee also hope that the event will help raise awareness of the plight of struggling farmers. All money raised from the whist drive will go to support the work of RABI, farming’s oldest and largest welfare charity,” said Becky Davies of RABI.

“The R.A.B.I provides confidential help to farming people in financial difficulty. They can offer, for example, advice on state benefits, payment of one-off or regular grants, replacement of essential household items, and funding for disability equipment.

Annie Davies, R.A.B.I event secretary said: “Everyone is welcome to come and join us for the whist drive. It will be a great evening of entertainment and the chance to win some money. R.A.B.I work hard to help farming families in the county. We are proud to be able to give something back in recognition of the support that they offer the farming community.”

More information about the Whist Drive, or the work of RABI, is available from Ann Davies 01686 688347 or Becky Davies 07730 765 377.
