Newtown is likely to get another fast food take away.

Plans have been submitted to change the use of the former Alaven leather shop into a take away.

The plans have been submitted to Powys County Council by Mr Q P Lin for 18 High Street, between The Buck public house and the Wales Air Ambulance shop.

The planning application includes the change of use of the current ground floor shop from retail to hot food take-away and the the use of the app floors to create a living accommodation.

The shop has remained closed for around two years and was purchased through local estate agent Morris, Marshall and Poole around two months ago.

The latest take-away follows the opening of the Costa coffee house at the former Angel pub in High Street and plans for a Burger King at the Tesco car park in Pool Road.

Planners will consider the application next week.
