Two Newtown councillors are demanding a meeting with Powys County Council over the future of youth services in the town.
Last week the county council said it was closing Newtown Youth Club to save costs. This is part of a county wide closure of youth centres.
Today, two county councillors, Cllr David Selby and Cllr Joy Jones, said they were asking for a meeting with Powys Youth Services to seek assurances on the future of services for young people in the town.
"Working with our local youth is a vital service, and although we understand that the youth centre will now close, we need reassurance that the service in Newtown will continue. We need to know that youth workers are continuing to serve our area and local young people know how to contact them," said the councillors in a joint statement.
Powys County Council has said it will work with other partners, organisations and charities to deliver youth services.
