Anger is mounting over plans to cut day services at Llanidloes Hospital from five to two.

It is understood Powys Teaching Health Board plans to reduce the day hospital services without consulting with the community.

A group of Plaid Cymru town councillors have called the decision to be delayed until a full consultation is held.

“It is with great concern that we hear that the day hospital services will be reduced from five days to two days a week,” said town councillor Aled Griffiths.

“Assurances were given in June to Llanidloes Town Council that the Penrallt Unit and Maes-y-wennol Day centre would be amalgamated, however this is no longer the case.

“It is with great shame we hear that this decision has been taken without consultation or discussion at all with local stakeholders.”

He added: ”To make such a decision without consultation shows disregard to the local community."

“We call for this decision to be halted until a full consultation is conducted with local stakeholders, including the town council.”
