Local garden winners revealed

Council tenants in Montgomeryshire have been celebrating after scooping prizes in the annual Powys County Council garden competition.

Mr and Mrs Watkins from Sarn were awarded the Best Kept Senior Citizen Garden prize for the county, while Mr W.R.G. Morgan of Pengeulan, Llanidloes won the Best Kept Vegetable Garden in Powys.

The Best Kept Senior Citizens Garden in Montgomeryshire went to  Mr and Mrs L Watkins of Sarn.
Other winners in Montgomeryshire were: 

Best Kept Senior Citizens Estate went to Mill Close, Newtown.
Best Vegetable Garden, Mr  W.R.G. Morgan, Pengeulan, Llanidloes.
Best Hanging Basket or Containers, Mr R Allsopp, Newtown Montgomeryshire.
Cllr Jonathan Wilkinson, Cabinet Member for Housing Services, said: “I would like to congratulate all those who have won prizes but also thank all those who put nominations forward and helped made this year’s competition a great success.
“Judging this year was extremely difficult because of the high quality of the gardens. A lot of tenants have worked hard on their gardens and this year’s competition has recognised their achievements.”
