A detailed flood risk management design is to be carried out in Caersws, Powys County Council has said.

Funding worth nearly £120,000 has been awarded to Powys County Council to develop small-scale flood alleviation schemes in the county.

The council has been successful in securing the funding for 10 schemes from the Welsh Government’s Environment and Rural Affairs Department under a £1m capital initiative to improve flood prevention schemes over a four year period.

Lower Green in Caersws is one of the projects that will have a detailed design undertaken for possible work on a flood management project next year.

Cabinet Member for Highways, Councillor Liam Fitzpatrick said: “The council’s land drainage team has been successful in securing £104,000 additional funding from Welsh Government to progress a number of small-scale projects this financial year with a further £15,000 being contributed by the county council.

“The funding will also allow the council to develop detailed designs for four other schemes, which we hope to implement next year, subject to Welsh Government funding,” he added.

Further details regarding these projects can be obtained by contacting our Land drainage team by emailing land.drainage@powys.gov.uk
