The Queen's Baton Relay comes to the area today, visiting Llanidloes, Llandinam and Newtown, before heading to Welshpool.

The baton is on a tour of Wales as part of its route around Commonwealth countries before heading to the Gold Coast Games in Australia next year.

The baton carries a message from the Queen for the start of the games.

Today it will head to Llanidloes, before visiting Plas Dinam at Llandinam, moving on to Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd in Newtown where pupils will parade with it along with their own batons.

It will then travel to Welshpool where it will be met by 400 children at the Town Hall along with Commonwealth distance runner and NPTC College lecturer, Andy Davies.
