If you saw a lot of nuns at last weekend’s Newtown Food Festival you might have wondered what it was all about.

But all can be revealed. The cast of Newtown Musical Theatre Company’s latest production, Sister Act The Musical, were at the event to publicise the show.

Based on the famous film starring Whoopi Goldberg, the show tells the story of nightclub singer Deloris Van Cartier, whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses Curtis, her gangster boyfriend, shooting an informer.

Deloris is hidden in a convent, dressed as a nun, and eventually joins the struggling choir. She soon has her fellow sisters raising their voices and getting the rafters ringing, however Curtis and his gang are soon on her trail.

“A real feel-good musical with great gospel music and lively dancing, this show will have you rejoicing all the way home,” said Jonathan Davies of NMTC.

The musical is running from the 19th to 21st October with performances starting at 7.30pm on each evening and a matinee at 2.30pm on Saturday, 21st October.

Tickets cost £12.50 each and are available via the Hafren website, www.thehafren.co.uk, or by phoning the Box Office on 01686 614555.
