Ross Stephens has left Caersws on transfer deadline day to re-sign for Welsh Premier League side Prestatyn.

The loss of the vastly experienced midfield player will be a major blow to Caersws manager Graham Evans in his bid to improve on last season's poor Huws Gray Alliance finish.

The 32-year-old Llanidloes-born player made his first Welsh Premier appearances for Caersws in 2003/4 during a loan spell from Shrewsbury Town. Released from the Gay Meadow after a loan period at Redditch United, he then signed for the Bluebirds in June 2005.

A Welsh Under-18 and Under-20 international, Stephens moved to Rhyl in January 2007. However, he decided to quit at the end of the season and signed for Welshpool Town, but moved on to Aberystwyth in January 2009 before switching to Newtown in the summer of the same year.

After a season at Latham Park, Stephens moved to Prestatyn Town in May 2010, spending four and a half seasons at Bastion Gardens before a return to Aberystwyth in January 2015. He left Park Avenue a year later to return to Newtown, but returned to Caersws in July and has so far scored 82 goals from a career total of 324 (+31) WPL appearances.

This weekend sees no fixtures in the JD Welsh Premier League or in the Huws Gray Alliance due to the Wales v Austrian fixture but there is a fuel programme of Spar Mid Wales League first division  games tonight (Friday).
