Newtown firm expands with international centre

30/08/2017 @ 06:25

A Newtown company has expanded with the opening of a new international distribution centre in the town.

Cellpath, based at the Mochdre Industrial Estate at Newtown, specialises in cellular pathology, and are world leading manufacturers and suppliers of products, consumables and services to the histopathology and cytology markets.

The company’s new centre adjoins the current CellPath premises on the Mochdre Industrial Estate and is designed to accommodate this rapidly growing business.

It was opened by Glyn Davies, MP for Montgomeryshire, at a ceremony.

CellPath was founded in 1990 by current Chairman Peter Webber, and was formed after the merger of Histopath and Cytopath, two companies which were owned by the Webber Family. Peter now runs CellPath with his two sons Paul and Philip Webber, who are joint Managing Directors.

Commenting on the opening of the Centre, Glyn Davies MP said: “CellPath is an important, longstanding, high quality, international business employing 90 people at its Newtown base on the Mochdre Industrial Estate.

“CellPath founder and chairman, Peter Webber, established the company in Newtown nearly 30 years ago and it has grown steadily ever since. CellPath is an example of a small company moving to mid Wales, and becoming an established part of the Mid Wales economy. It was a privilege for me to be invited to be part of the celebration of the latest CellPath expansion.

"CellPath specialises in innovation in the field of cellular pathology. The company’s origins were formed in 1984 by entrepreneur Peter Webber, who is now Chairman of CellPath. Peter's sons Philip and Paul Webber are Joint Managing Directors. CellPath, and its sister company, CellNass, also specialise in 'archiving' tissue for NHS authorities across the UK. For over 30 years, this company has delivered steady growth, and prospects are for continued growth in the future.

“It was a great pleasure and honour for me to be involved in a special party to celebrate moving into the new International Distribution Centre."
