Newtown could reveal two new defenders in tonight’s (Friday) JD Sports Welsh Premier League home opener at Latham Park.

Beaten 3-0 at Bala last week manager Chris Hughes will be demanding a better performance against Cefn Druids tonight for the first home game of the season and could give debuts to two.

Iwan Cartwright, son of former Robin, Mark Cartwright is likely to appear now that his release paperwork from Wrexham has finally been cleared and local youngster Ryan Sears is on standby after moving on loan from Shrewsbury Town until January.

Abermule, Churshroke and Montgomery are on Welsh Cup preliminary round duty  while Carno go to Knighton and Llanidloes to Llanrhaeadr in the Spar Mid Wales League.
