Residents, businesses and community groups in Newtown who are interested in shaping how Powys might look in 2040 are invited to have their say via an online survey running until mid-September.
The Well-being of Future Generations Act places a duty on four statutory public bodies to work together to improve well-being for everyone in the county. In particular, the legislation creates a duty to take account of the needs of future generations when planning services.
The four partners, Powys County Council, Powys Teaching Health Board, Mid and West Wales Fire Service and Natural Resources Wales have to produce a Well-being Plan by April next year.
This plan sets out the steps that will be taken to work collaboratively to improve well-being. Other partner agencies like the Brecon Beacons National Park, Dyfed Powys Police, Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations are also involved in shaping the plan.
A draft vision for the county in 2040 and four well-being objectives have now been produced and Chair of the Powys Public Service Board, County Council Rosemarie Harris would like feedback.
She said: “Powys is such a beautiful rural county but with that rurality comes the challenge of how our residents best access the services they want and need to enjoy a good quality of life.
“The well-being of our residents is paramount to our vision so that we create the Powys we want in 2040. We’d like to know if this vision resonates with you so please do have your say.”
The vision, objectives and outcomes are all based on evidence and feedback following a comprehensive data collection and consultation exercise conducted earlier this year.
Posters which set out the vision and the well-being objectives and a link to the online survey are available at www.powys.gov.uk/haveyoursay and views sought by midnight on 17 September.
The feedback will help the Powys Public Service Board develop actions to sit under each of the objectives so as to achieve improve economic, environmental, social and cultural well-being of the county. Views will be sought on the final Well-being Plan later this year.
