Man charged over burglaries after police chase

A man has been charged on suspicion of a series of burglaries in the region, including commercial premises in Newtown and Llanidloes, following a foot chase through a Mid Wales town.

Samuel Thomas Davies, 24, of no fixed abode, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates yesterday after he was arrested in Aberystwyth on Wednesday following a foot chase by officers.

He was arrested on suspicion of numerous commercial burglaries that have taken place in Newtown, Llanidloes, Hay on Wye, Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells, as well as other force areas.

At Magistrates Court he was charged with six burglaries and was remanded in custody until 1 September when he will appear at Old Crown Court.

Inspector Stuart Echley, said: "Thanks must go out to all officers and support staff from numerous departments who have been involved in this investigation."
