Vulnerable people are being helped to get out into the community to access services and shopping through a voluntary car scheme.

Montgomeryshire AM, Russell George, who praised the North Montgomeryshire Volunteer Bureau after visiting volunteers, urged people to come forward to help the scheme.

He said: “I was delighted to meet with volunteers from the North Montgomeryshire Volunteer Bureau to learn more about the community car scheme which plays such an invaluable role in supporting the most vulnerable people in our community do things which others take for granted.
"In a world which is all too often marked by bad news, it was heartening to see volunteers do something positive for their neighbours and local community.
"After my visit, it is clear to me that without this service, some people would simply not be able to get out of the house and would be more reliant on social services.”

He added: "If you feel that you would like to support NMVB by volunteering as a driver, helping in the office or as a Trustee, please make contact as it will mean that more people in the local community will be able to benefit from the community car scheme.
"I hope the service goes from strength to strength and I will support the Bureau in any way I can in the future."
