Newtown High School has been showing off its support for young people to the Children’s Commissioner for Wales.

Professor Sally Holland was at the school to hold her annual advisory meeting. The adult and youth advisory panels come together from North and South Wales, making Newtown the perfect location.

School staff member and clerk to the school’s Student Assembly, said: “The Commissioner took time out of her busy schedule to chat to members of the previous and newly elected Student Assembly about her role and she saw first hand how Newtown High School is leading the way in electronic voting, participation and decision making - something recently recognised by the National Assembly for Wales and School Council Wales who have awarded us the award for Digital Council of the Year.”

Mr Harkness, Headteacher said "It was fantastic to be able to host the Children's Commissioner for Wales and thank you to her for taking time out of her schedule to come and talk to our Student Assembly and see the work we have been doing to promote and develop children's rights.”
