A local community council that has no councillors could soon be up and running if enough people come forward to be nominated.

Trefeglwys Community Council has had no members since the local elections in May after nobody stood for election.

Councillors from neighbouring community councils have stepped in to help run affairs while nominations are sought for councillors to stand.

Anyone interested has until Friday, 14 July to register their nomination.

“Trefeglwys Community Council is seeking 10 nominations for the council – six people for the Trefeglwys ward and four candidates for the Llawryglyn ward,” said a Powys County Council spokesperson.

“Nominations have to be with Powys County Council at County Hall, Llandrindod Wells by 4pm on Friday, 14 July.

“If there are sufficient candidates for an election a poll will be held on Thursday, 10 August.”
