Newtown Musical Theatre Company (NMTC) is celebrating again, having scooped three prizes at the annual NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) awards ceremony.

NMTC regular Gaenor Bowen won the award for Best Performance, for her portrayal of Martha in NMTC’s production of ‘White Christmas’ in November 2016.

“I was thrilled to get the award and so pleased to have given the opportunity to play such a fun role as Martha” said Gaenor.

The company also won two awards for their production of Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Into The Woods’, which was performed in Spring 2016. Lex Urry received the award for Best Youth Performance for his portrayal of Jack, and the production won the Best Stage Management and Technical category.

Commenting on the company’s latest successes, NMTC Chairperson, Les Skilton, said: “Once again, these awards are a fantastic achievement for the company.  I would like to thank all involved for their efforts in making the shows a success.”

The company is now rehearsing for their next production, Sister Act, which will be performed at The Hafren, Newtown from the 19th – 21st October. Tickets for the show will be available soon.

Rob Jones, who will play TJ in Sister Act has organized a raffle in the Spar in Newtown to raise money towards the cost of staging the show. To be in with a chance of winning, pop into the shop and ask for details.

NMTC are always keen to welcome new faces, so if anyone is interested in performing or helping backstage, please get in touch with the company by e-mailing
