Three men arrested in connection with the attack on 88-year-old “Aunty Blanche” have been released on bail while police investigations continue.

A fourth man has been released under investigation for handling stolen goods.

Three of the men are aged 41, 49 and 50 years of age. No oder details have been released by police.

It follows the “brutal” attack on Blanch Roberts at her home near Dolfor on Monday, 12 June. Mrs Roberts was found by a neighbour at her home with injuries after the incident and spent several days in hospital being treated.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them by telephoning 101. Her nephew, Mervyn Lloyd Jones, of Lower Brimmon near Vastre, said his family were still coming to terms with what happened to his aunt.

“It’s been so traumatic for her. We are all in shock still but doing our best to help and support her. We just want whoever has done this brought to justice,” he told MyNewtown.

Meanwhile, Born Free actress Virginia McKenna ha sent a message of goodwill to Blanche. Ms McKenna was in Ellesmere at an event also attended by the Treehunter, Rob McBride.

He helped Mr Lloyd Jones campaign to save the Great Brimmon Oak which Blanche played under as a child and regularly visited.

“I wish you a speedy recovery and send my best wishes, and we might even meet one day,” she said in a video message.
