Community groups in Newtown are celebrating after receiving grants from Newtown Town Council to help their work.
The Newtown Community Grant scheme awarded a total of £9,500.11 to community groups to “support projects that have an amazing benefit to the town,” according to the council.
Seventeen community groups received a grant in this round, they are:

Bike to the Future
Hope Church Community Christmas
Trehafrens Childrens Center
Newtown Whitestars JFC
Newtown & District Civic Society
Newtown Local History Group
NYP Theatre Group
Newtown Textile Museum (MCRA)
St John Ambulance - Newtown
Newtown Tennis Club
Newtown & District Dial-a-Ride
Newtown Hand Bell Ringers
“It is excellent to be able to support so many groups and project in the town, to allow them to do the special things that bring people together. We have such a wide variety of applications and we attempt to support as many as possible,” said Cllr Sue Newham, Mayor of Newtown.
