Town Council is short of councillors

19/06/2017 @ 10:40

Newtown Town Council does not have enough councillors.

At May's election, only 12 people put their names forward for tow council seats when the council needs 16 to undertake its work.

It has now appealed for members of the community to come forward and be co-opted on to the council and represent their community.

“Your Town Council is a bit short of councillors. In the elections only 12 people put their names in for election and we need 16 to do all the work and make sure everywhere is represented,” says a council statement.

Anyone interested can find more details at the council’s website www.newtown.org.uk.

The co-option will take place at the meeting of the full council on 26th June.

Anyone interested can contact Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council on 01686 625544 by 5pm on 19th June.
