Montgomeryshire’s very own air show is all set to pull out all the stops as one of he best yet this weekend.

The Bob Jones Memorial Air Show at the Mid Wales Airport near Welshpool, has already confirmed the Red Arrows among its list of flying events on Sunday, and as if this wasn’t enough, organisers added another big name to the bill in the OV-10 Bronco Demo Team (pictured).

The aircraft will be demonstrating the capabilities previously appreciated not only by US Air Force, Marines and Navy but in roles such as firefighting.

The short takeoff and landing and maneuverability allows it to perform very close formations and the addition of smoke (using only environmentally friendly compounds) makes it is easy to follow in the sky.

With just a few days to go, organisers are urging local residents to buy their tickets in advance and take advantage of the free bus service from the Tourist Information Office in Welshpool as well as the free park and ride from the Welshpool Livestock Market at Buttington Cross.

“Tickets are available at a discount in advance with no booking fees via the web site at or from the Tourist Information Centre,” said a spokesperson. “The line-up this year includes the Red Arrows salute, Bronco, Hurricane, Spitfire, Team Raven, Red Devils Parachute Team, Gyrocopter, Wirlwind helicopter, Pitts Special, Huskey and more.”
