A group of amateur Newtown astronomers will have their heads to the sky this week when they host he AGM of the town’s Astronomy Society.

The meeting, on Saturday, will also include a talk by Dr Tony Cook of Aberystwyth University entitled “Five things to do this summer.”

“Following his presentation, there will be a short refreshment break with tea, coffee and biscuits available at a nominal charge. This final meeting before the summer recess also features an outstanding top raffle prize of a Celestron Travelscope, along with other astronomically related items for the winners to choose from,” said a society spokesperson.

“To end the meeting, there will be an events guide to the next couple of months, along with any other material and photographs that our members may bring to the event.”

The Society meets at the Newtown Scout Hut, Park Lane, on the second Saturday of each month at 7pm. (No meetings July or August). For any further information, contact the NAS Secretary - Les Fry, at
