Nearly £560 has been raised for the Newtown’s Salvation Army Food Bank and community work work after a charity fashion show and charity auction in the town.
“The evening was kicked off by our male models who set the tone for the night showboating in the most delightful way, displaying clothing from the charity shop,” said Samantha Jones, Newtown Corps Officer.
“There was a brief description of how the Food Bank in Newtown works before the ladies took to the stage, modelling tops and dresses from the Salvation Army Charity Shop on Market Street.
“Every model looked stunning from our youngest model, daughter of one of our volunteers to our silver haired ladies, each having had their hair dressed by Strands Hair Design and their make-up done by Donna Lester.”
Samantha added: “After a brief interval 7ern Island had a collection of their clothes and handbags expertly modelled then the local church leader described some of the benefits of the Food Bank locally, giving examples of some of the reasons people found themselves in the midst of a crisis and in need of a hand up through the Food Bank.”
A total of £568 was raised on the evening which will go towards the Food Bank and community work in the local area.
