He’s been Newtown’s main man for nine seasons but club captain Shane Sutton has left to join AFC Telford in the National League North.

A Welsh schoolboy and Wales Under-17 international central midfielder who joined the Robins on his release from Shrewsbury Town in June 2007, Sutton left Latham Park to join Presteigne St Andrews for a season in the Mid Wales League, but returned in June 2010.

In all, the 28-year-old has scored 15 goals from 228 (+5) Welsh Premier appearances for the mid-Wales outfit. He also appeared in four Europa League ties for the Robins.

"We are obviously disappointed to lose Shane, he has been a massive figure for us in recent years," says Newtown manager Chris Hughes. "He has been a fantastic servant to this football club, and he is a big loss for us."
