Pupils and staff from Newtown High School have raised over £5,000 in a year for charities, it has been revealed.

The young people raised the money through a range of events, including non-uniform days, cake stalls and other events. Money was also raised by pupils at the school's Presteigne campus.

This week the students handed over £3,500 to local and national charities as part of the money raised most recently and taking their total to £5,000 so far over the past 12 months.
Clerk to the Student Assembly, Mr R Williams said: “We are always amazed at the generosity of our staff and students supported by their parents, the whole school takes part in these activities and we know the difference our collections are making for the charities involved.”
