Newtown's defunct town centre CCTV system could be switched back on.
Dyfed Powys Police and Crime Commissioner, Dafydd Llywelyn, has confirmed that funding is in his budget for the infrastructure and implementation of CCTV systems in the force area. Newtown is understood to be part of that review with plans to switch it on again.
The system has been inactive for several years despite local people and businesses wanting it switched on as a deterrent to criminals and anti-social behaviour.
Match funding has already been committed to Welshpool Town Council for its system to be reinstated and monitored from the town's police station.
