Two new chief inspectors have been appointed to oversee law enforcement in the area.

Chief Inspector Rhiannon Ivens and Detective Chief Inspector Martin Slevin have been appointed by Chief Constable Mark Collins and will be based in Powys at Brecon and Newtown Police Station for the northern part of the force area.

Chief Inspector Rhiannon Ivens has served in both Hampshire Constabulary and the Metropolitan Police service and performed the role of Chief Inspector Operations for several years prior to taking up her role as a substantive Chief Inspector with Dyfed-Powys Police.   She will take responsibility for partnerships in Powys and brings with her significant experience in this field.

She is particularly keen to support existing partnerships in her role, in addition to creating an environment whereby working together with other agencies and stakeholders is as seamless and effective as possible to achieve excellent outcomes for residents and visitors to the county.

She said " I have already had the pleasure of meeting several partner members and I have been struck by their very clear sense of purpose and the positive approach to continuing to build upon the excellent work already undertaken. I have also been warmly welcomed by officers and staff across Dyfed-Powys and I look forward to working alongside them to deliver an outstanding service to all in our communities. "

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Slevin previously served in West Midlands Police. Throughout his 27 years' service he has developed a wide spectrum of policing experience within Investigation, Operations, Investigative training and events planning. For the past 5 years he has been a Detective Inspector and T/Detective Chief Inspector within Major Crime investigation with the past 3 years dedicated to investigating Homicides and suspicious deaths across the force.

He said "I am looking forward to serving the communities of Dyfed Powys and in particular supporting the Chief Constable and Police and Crime Commissioner in their vision to make the Force outstanding. I am confident that the experience I have developed over 27 years policing within the West Midlands can influence the Forces direction and play a positive role in achieving this."

Powys Basic Command Unit Commander(BCU), Jon Cummins said: “I am delighted to be able to welcome both Rhiannon and Martin to the senior management team in the BCU. As a transferee to the force myself I know just how much they will enjoy working here with officers, staff and partners to deliver excellent policing services. These are exciting times for Dyfed Powys and their addition to the BCU completes the senior management team put in place by the Chief Constable. I look forward to working with them both to improve the performance of the force.”
