Reports of more rubbish being dumped around Newtown are being reported after the reduced opening times were implemented at the town's waste and recycling centre last week.

Rubbish is now being dumped at the Back Lane car park where a number of recycling units are located.

MyNewtown has also been informed of fly-tipping at Maesyrhandir and Trehafren, as well as along some lanes surrounding the town, although these are yet to be verified.

One MyNewtown reader, Dave Wills, sent us this photo of waste in the Back Lane car park.

Town councillors and Montgomeryshire AM, Russell George, have already called for action on the opening times being reinstated to seven days a week at the Potters operated recycling centre on Wern Ddu Lane after it was reduced to two week days and one day on the weekend.

There has also been criticism of the new regulations at the centres in Newtown and Welshpool, prohibiting vans of any kind, as well as pick-up trucks and trailers.
